Razor A5 Lux Variations
There is no question that Razor has been one of the leading brands when it comes to producing premium scooters. Their line of Razor A5 Lux Scooters is globally popular both for kids and adults alike up to this day. But what really makes this kick ride a favorite choice?
In terms of features, the Razor A5 Lux is almost similar to its predecessors. It is lightweight for only 5.5lbs but can now hold a 220 lbs rider. It measures 35 x 21 x 41 inches which fits riders of different sizes. But makes this scooter unique and popular is its notable materials and few upgraded features.
Urethane wheels: Scooters with urethane wheels provide better surface traction while at the same time gives that added speed. They roll smoothly with little friction and are renowned for their wear-and-tear resistance. Having this on Razor A5 Lux for wheels means longer service life and durability.
Larger wheels: A5 Lux does not have the size of your typical scooter wheels. Each wheel measures 200 mm which is way larger than its predecessors. Bigger wheels equate to faster speed, smooth cruising on uneven surfaces, and reduced shock.
Rear fender foot brake: Another upgraded feature is the rear fender foot brake. It a simple yet effective feature that makes riding easier to control and stable especially on turning curves.
Foldable kickstand and adjustable handlebars: Here’s another easy feature but offers great convenience. No more leaving the scooter lying around. One can simply step on the kickstand and adjust its handlebars and store it away properly without taking much of the space.
Razor A5 Lux Design and Build
The Razor A5 Lux has multiple color choices with popular ones that come in red, pink, and blue. The design is very conventional and nothing fancy. It’s straightforward and simple to use. The scooter comes assembled and ready-to-use.
The build quality however is top-notch. The frame and T-tube are made of high-grade steel which makes it sturdy yet lightweight. It’s not flashy or glossy despite being made of aluminum. The sturdy frame was also made retractable and adjustable which is ideal for use for kids.
Razor A5 Lux Scooter Highlights
Materials: – The high-grade materials from frame to big wheels make up for its conventional design. It can also hold a much heavier rider up to 220 lbs. Users are guaranteed that this scooter has a high tolerance for wearing even on a day to day rides.
Easy to Store: – Retractable kickstand and adjustable handlebars are very convenient additions to A5 Lux. The big wheels might take some space but not more than the space of a typical scooter that is usually left lying on the ground when not in use.
Reasonably Priced: – It’s well worth the investment. The A5 Lux has the features its predecessors are lacking and even has better build quality. All of that for scooter priced less than $100.
Razor A5 Lux Scooter Improvements
Clamped Handlebars – It’s great that the handlebars are adjustable which is perfect for kids. However, this could also prove to be a potential danger. The handlebars are held by a clamp which is not exactly reliable to securely hold the bars, especially on uneven surfaces. ( the updated A5 lux features a slip in handlebar system which removes the clamp!)
Brake Friction – The rear foot brake is easy to use. But since it is made of aluminum, it’s a little slippery and not everyone is coordinated enough to use it. Handbrakes would have been a more suitable brake system for the big wheels.
Rattles – Users experienced rattling on the retractable part of the scooter though it remains solid during the rides.
Razor A5 Lux Ride Performance
The A5 Lux is no question a comfortable and sturdy scooter. The new large wheels allow faster and farther travel distances in just a few kicks. It can cruise smoothly even on uneven surfaces like bumps and cracks.
The speed and friction do better when the ground is dry. Like any other wheels, however, traction is reduced on wet or grassy grounds.
Razor A5 Lux is marketed for kids ages 8 years old and above. It means it is both for kids and adults. However, despite the adjustable handlebars, shorter users may find it hard to maneuver and balance initially due to the bigger wheels.
Since it can withstand heavier riders, it is an ideal kick scooter for kids and adults who wants a high-quality ride within a low price range.
Razor A5 Lux vs Razor A5 DLX
The Razor A5 DLX is part of the A5 series and offers the same features as the Lux line. Big urethane wheels, 220 lbs rider max capacity, retractable handlebars, high-grade steel T-tube frame, kickstand, and fender brake.
But what makes A5 DLX different from its counterparts is its larger deck which is ideal for taller users. Compared to A5 Lux, it measures 39x17x35 inches yet remains lightweight at 8.8 lbs.
It has a patent-pending anti-rattle retractable handlebar that resolves one of the issues in A5 Lux. It comes in sleek silver color giving it a sophisticated look. Dubbed as the King of commuter scooters for its fast, durable, and smooth long rides.
If you are looking for a more adult suited kick scooter, then A5 DLX is a good upgrade.
Razor A5 series – A5 Lux and A5 DLX offer top-notch quality scooters in the market today. As expected from Razor Scooters a reputable global brand, users can expect upgraded features on a kick scooter you won’t easily find anywhere. Durable, powerful, reliable performance and affordable price, you can’t go wrong with this choice of scooter.
